Meigetsu
A moment to unwind in the city.
Kita-Senju teppanyaki parlor Meigetsu serves a wide evening menu, from its signature Meigetsu-ten and inventive monjayaki to savory hotplate snacks.
01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
Gathering around the griddle at Meigetsu, the natural first order is the signature Meigetsu-ten. Packed with pork, squid, shrimp, potato, and mochi, it delivers a deeply satisfying bite. The okonomiyaki cooks up fluffy, allowing the savory stock in the batter to shine through cleanly. Diners can also customize their pancakes with toppings, pairing pork tama-ten with corn and cheese, or layering kimchi and cheese over beef tendon.
The monjayaki selection is equally broad, stretching from simple base versions to seafood and meat combinations. The ingredients are finely diced, making the mixture easy to shape across the hotplate while letting the umami of the dashi broth come through. Crowd-pleasers include mentaiko, mochi, and cheese, as well as nostalgic pairings like curry and Baby Star dried noodles. For a lavish spread across the teppan, the Meigetsu Monja brings together pork, squid, shrimp, potato, mochi, and egg.
While your batter cooks or between savory pancakes, small hotplate plates keep the table lively. Choices range from butter-grilled assortments of scallops, oysters, and beef to tteokbokki with adjustable heat levels. Nibbling on simmered beef tendon or kimchi alongside draft beer, chuhai, regional sake, or authentic shochu makes the wait just as enjoyable.
Seating includes standard tables and tatami zashiki spaces, well-suited for groups. The dining room tends to get busy in the evening, so reserving ahead is wise. After the savory courses, sweet options like cream anmitsu and ice cream round off a filling night.
